INTRODUCTION
Cheiro is regarded as the leading model in palmistry. He is the most famous and popular palmist of the world, of all times. In fact it is probably only because of Cheiro that so many people have even heard about Palmistry.
BIRTH
Cheiro was born on November 1, 1866 at 10:53 LMT in Dublin, Ireland. Some historians are also of the view that he was born in Bray, Ireland.
PARENTS
It is said that his mother was a French lady, while his father was a Greek man. Some historians are also of the view that he was a Roman.
ORIGINAL NAME
Cheiro went by many names in his life like “Count Louis Hamon” and “William John Warner” and “Count Leigh de Hamong”. The name on Cheiro's birth certificate was written as “William John Warner”. His name “Cheiro” is taken from the word cheiromancy meaning “Palmistry”.
CHILDHOOD
There were many tales about Cheiro's childhood and among those the most popular was that during his childhood he was kidnapped by the gypsies, who wanted to take advantage of his gifted mystical skills.
LEARNING EXPERIENCE
In his search of palmistry knowledge Cheiro travelled extensively in East and particularly India. Cheiro admitted that he mainly learnt the art of Palmistry from Indian Brahmans. Palmistry was practiced and followed by the Joshi caste in the north-west province of India from ancient times to the date. There Cheiro met with many knowledgeable men and got the chance of reading some of the most secret text on palmistry. He also got the opportunity to read an extremely ancient and rare book on palmistry. This book was one of the greatest treasures of the few Brahmans, only who possessed and understood it at that time.

OTHER THAN PALMISTRY CAREERS
Cheiro provided his handprint in his book "The Language of The Hand" where we can see a double brain line on his right hand, which tells the secret of a man who has dual personality. That is why he has more than one name and profession.
Cheiro worked as a journalist, ran a champagne business, owned two French newspapers and ran a chemical factory in Ireland. When Cheiro went to England he also did small jobs in theatre. When he went to California he also did some scriptwriting for Hollywood films.
PALMISTRY CAREER
Cheiro’s palmistry office was in London. He was so famous in London at that time that even those people who did not have believe in palmistry, came to show their hands to him. After some years of palmistry practice in London, Cheiro shifted his office to Hollywood in 1930, where he was dealing more than 20 clients per day.
Cheiro considered himself very much as a gifted psychic and intuitive person and liked to present himself in that way. He also had close associations with various spiritualist groups and psychic mediums of that time.
There is no doubt that he wanted to create a sense of mystery around him and it was also reflecting in the decoration and furnishing of his palmistry office.

Cheiro used to take the comments of his clients in a guests’ book which he always kept with him for this purpose. He used to ask his clients to make comments about their experience of hand reading with him in that guests’ book.

Mark Twain was so impressed by the accuracy of Cheiro's work that he made use of palmistry in a story "Pudd'n Head Wilson" and got great success.
CHEIRO’S PROVEN PREDICTIONS (Personal)
Cheiro made some amazingly accurate personal predictions about the world’s most famous and respectable people, like:
- The death of Queen Victoria
- The assassination of King Umberto of Italy
- The day, month and year of the death of King Edward VII
- The death of Lord Kitcheners
- The downfall of Czar of Russia and massacre of him and all his immediate family
- The attack on Shah of Persia
- The Prince of Wales, later to be Edward VIII. "He predicted that it is within the bounds of possibility that The Prince of Wales will fall victim to a devastating love affair. If it happens, I predict that the Prince will give up everything for his love, even the chance of being crowned”. Edward VIII did indeed give up his throne for his love "Wallis Simpson" and became the Duke of Windsor
CHEIRO’S PROVEN PREDICTIONS (International)
Cheiro also made some amazingly accurate national and international predictions like:
- The Boer War (1899-1902)
- World War 1 (1914-1918)
- The Great Depression (1926-1930)
He predicted that adverse conditions would hit the world and unemployment would rise to the highest level in all the countries of the world. Although he did not predict the exact year of this happening, yet he predict the stock market crash of 1929 that brought the Great Depression.
- Freedom and separation of India & Pakistan (1947)
He predicted that India would gain her freedom, but "religious difference will divide that country between Hindus and the Muslims". In 1947 India gain independence but was also divided into Hindu and Muslim states of India and Pakistan.
- Dictatorship in Spain (1939-1975)
He predicted that Spain would have a dictator and "Francisco Franco" a military general became the head of state of Spain.
- Jews' control over Palestine (1948)
He predicted that Palestine would be returned to the Jews and in 1948, Israel announced her independence.
