Planets in signs and houses Gocharas - Transit of planets through rashis

The movement of the Grahas or planets through the Rashis (signs of the zodiac) is called Gochara or transit. The Grahas move continually on their paths and exercise an influence on the fixed positions of the Grahas as seen in the birth horoscope. The slow moving Grahas (Shani, Rahu, Ketu, and Guru) have a longer effect and are therefore of greater importance for the predictions.
In the Maharishi Jyotish program the transits are seen primarily from the position of Chandra in the birth horoscope. However, the transits from the Lagna also have a considerable influence; and the transits from Surya or even other Grahas in the birth horoscope are also considered.
In this example we see the Janma Kundali with the fixed positions of the Grahas at the time of birth. In the circle of the Rashis and Nakshatras we see the daily movement of the Grahas—Gocharas.

Planets in signs and houses Grahas & nakshatra at the Time of Birth

The positions of the Grahas in the Rashis and Nakshatras form the basis of the birth horoscope. This illustration shows an example of the placement of the 9 Grahas in the 12 Rashis and the 27 Nakshatras at the time of birth for a particular individual.

Grahas, Rashis and Nakshatras influence our life

The Grahas move with different speeds in their orbits in the heavens. At the time of birth, each Graha is placed in a particular position within the circles of the Rashis and Nakshatras.
Through the interaction of the 9 Grahas with the 12 Rashis and the 27 Nakshatras, manifold influences are created for individual and for collective life. As the Grahas, so the Rashis and the Nakshatras are related to all areas of life—for individuals, for organizations, nations, and for the world as a whole.

Planets in signs and houses Cosmic Counterparts of Human Physiology

Professor Tony Nader, M.D., Ph.D., has discovered the precise one-to-one relationship between the fundamental structures and functions of human physiology (individual life) and the fundamental structures of Natural Law (cosmic life). The fundamental structures of Natural Law connect individual intelligence with cosmic intelligence—the basic structures of the human nervous system with their ‘cosmic counterparts’.

This illustration from Professor Nader’s book, Human Physiology, Expression of Veda and the Vedic Literature, presents a coronal section of the brain with its internal structures, and their one-to-one relationship with the nine ‘cosmic counterparts,’ the nine Grahas (planets).

Planets in signs and houses The 27 Nakshatras—Lunar Mansions

The Sanskrit word Nakshatra means “that which does not decay.” The 27 Nakshatras represent consciousness and each Nakshatra represents a particular quality of consciousness. The Nakshatras permeate the whole universe and influence the quality of the Rashi in which they are positioned. In the same way the quality of the Graha depends to some extent on the Nakshatra in which it is positioned. In the Maharishi Jyotish program, the 27 Nakshatras are represented as 27 equal segments of a circle, each covering 13 degrees 20 minutes. The sequence of the 27 Nakshatras begins with Ashvini Nakshatra in Mesha Rashi.

The 9 Grahas are directly related to every area of individual and collective life. According to the Maharishi Jyotish program, individual life is administrated by the same Laws of Nature that administer the whole universe. Maharishi Parashara, the greatest exponent of jyotish in the Vedic tradition, said:
“The development and progress of the people and the creation are all under the administration and authority of the planets.”
—Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, Chapter 84
Every aspect of human physiology and life has its counterpart in the structure and functioning of the cosmic physiology, represented by the Grahas, Rashis and Nakshatras.

Planets in signs and houses Astrology Basics

Principles of the Jyotish- Astrology

The Maharishi Jyotish program explains how the Laws of Nature are responsible for all changes and developments experienced in life, and how life unfolds sequentially through the steps of evolution from the very moment of birth. This vast range of unfoldment of life can be easily calculated through the mathematics of the Maharishi Jyotish program, because it is capable of describing the complex functioning of Natural Law in a simplified way through the relationship of the:

12 Rashis (signs)
27 Nakshatras (lunar mansions)

Planets in signs and houses MARRIAGE - AN ASTROLOGICAL STUDY

MARRIAGE - AN ASTROLOGICAL STUDY

MARRIAGE is an institution with varied association. In Hinduism and in the Catholic religion at least, marriage is taken to be an indissoluble and sacred institution. To these faiths, marriages are literally made in heaven. In some countries marriage is a contract and it is therefore capable of being dissolved. Even where the law of divorce is found on the statute book, some countries like the United Kingdom do not allow a divorce as far as the royal family is concerned. When we turn to astrology, we only know that marriages are largely governed by planetary dispositions. We do not think that astrology would sanction divorce or oppose it, since astrology is neither a legislature nor a judge. Astrology only enables us to make a marriage happy or otherwise.

Since the zodiac begins with Aries (Mesha). the natural seventh is Libra (Tula). The main indicators of marriage are Libra and its lord, as far as men are concerned. The seventh from Libra being Aries, the chief indicators of marriage for a woman are Aries and Mars. In a woman's chart, the Moon too must be taken into consideration since the menstrual period is regulated by Moon and Mars; and in a man's nativity Sun too must be examined carefully.

In a man's chart, we have to consider Libra and the 7th from the ascendant, Sun and Venus; and in a woman's we must note Aries and the seventh from the ascendant, Moon and Mars. The eighth houses from these govern the sex life; and therefore Scorpio for the men and Taurus for women have to be added to the list. Then the extra marital life is determined by the twelfth house from the ascendant; and in a man's chart, Pisces too need scrutiny while in a woman's Virgo too deserves a study. This might terrify one since all the houses and planets appear to get into the picture. But what is needed is to findout the strongest among the ascendant, Sun and Venus in a man's chart, and among the ascendant Moon and Mars in a woman's. The major scrutiny should be from this point only. The others are needed as corroborating or strengthening aids only.

An afflliction to a planet or house arises from a conjunction with or an aspect by a planet who is a malefic by nature or by ownership or by both. If a conjunction with or an aspect by a benefic also operates, then we get mixed character of the house or planet.

A strong, well-placed and unafflicted Venus gives a harmonious and balanced marital life of man. A similar Mars governs the balanced sex life of a woman. These are the two basic planets. Venus is to be examined with the Sun, and Mars with the Moon. The position of Venus in a male chart is to be compared with that of Mars in the wife's chart; and a similar comparison between the Sun in the Husband's chart and the Moon in the wife's is necessary. Whether they aspect one another, they are in square or trine to one another, or they are inimical to one another must be carefully noted. The next step is to see whether the Navamsa chart of the wife agrees with the Rasi chart of the husband, and whether the Rasi chart of the wife agrees with the Navamsa chart of the husband. These preliminary observations will be taken up for a scrutiny and a later stage. Now we have to consider the possible effects resulting from certain positions of the planets. In the following , he means and includes she also.

The Sun in the seventh indicates a successful marriage; and in the eighth a successful interest in the affairs where the strongest feelings are involved and in matters of sex. The moon in the seventh makes one change his attitude frequently towards those intimately related to him; and he hopes the marriage partner to be motherly. The eighth house position stimulates these interests. Mercury in the seventh can either advance or related reciprocity of feelings and emotions; and in the eighth he affects the emotions roused by others. Venus in the seventh is a very good indication of happy marriage and of the ability to live with others in peace and happiness. If this Venus is afflicted, there may be disappointment in this direction. In the eighth Venus secures a balanced sex life if it is not afflicted. Mars in the seventh makes one forceful in intimate relationships. If afflicted, it might bring about irritation and quarrels. In the eighth it makes sex life very important for the native. The seventh house Jupiter is very good for marriage life. In the eight it brings prosperity through marriage. Saturn in the seventh brings about frustration and disappointment in marriage, if it is afflicted. In the eighth, it makes one serious in matters concerning sex.

Of the various signs involved in a consideration of the problem of marriage, there are a few sensitive degrees which may be noted. All these refer to the Nirayana of Sidereal Zodiac only.

Aries : 1°, The sexual need is an inescapable necessity. It might be almost fatal.  2°, one is fierce, restless and selfish, whimsical , and tyrannical, without any sign of chivalry.   4°, one is sensuous and generous.  6°, one may be ruined by the partner.  9°,  it is likely that one may have untimely love.  11°, It makes one lack the ability to live in harmony with the person he or she loves.  13°,  one is passionate to access or is completely detached and isolated.  14°, it speaks of deep-rooted lust.  17°, it refers to many a love affair and an artless and coarse behavior.  19°, it suggests an ideal partner.  22°, one is indifferent to love.  23°, marriage can be lucky.  26°, one has a very good feminine nature. Gentle and sweet, she will be least self-assertive.

Taurus : 3°, one loves peace and spreads around himself comfort and harmony.  6°, the woman would order her husband and bully him. There may be bigotry and vulgarity.  8°, one gives himself or herself up wholly to friendship and this might lead to strife in family and unhappy married life. This is likely to ruin one's self respect. 10°, it gives rise to chaos and disorder in the household.  11° ,14°, It offers a happy marriage. 15°, one is fond of family and home, and yet faces domestic strife. 18°, one is fond of his family, but is really despotic and unscrupulous.  25°, there is a likelihood of being divided from the partner.   29°, it indicates happy marriage and perfect sociability. 30°, it is likely that estrangement from the partner and children follows.

Libra : 3°, it gives a generous heart.  8°, one allows himself or herself to be ruled unconditionally by the person he or she loves. In some cases we may find lust and delinquency.  15°, his behavior is determined by his sexual urge. Intrigues and adventures dominate his love affairs and she will quarrel over very paltry things. Sometimes lust may make him a criminal.  18°, one is unable to live without love; and there is faithfulness along with jealousy. 19°, there is strong sex urge which may develop into lust.  22°, it offers neither joy nor pleasure in life. 24°,  on his private life he is selfish and lustful, shameless and sensuous. 26°, there is an unbridled lustfulness, and he becomes a prey to wine, women  and gambling. 29°, he is deeply attached to home.

Scorpio : 10°, one is dominated by sex urge, love of family and home. 12°, it indicates loneliness, sorrow and widowhood. 14°, it offers a steady domestic happiness. 19°, one becomes a deeply attached lover lavishing his affections. Sometimes excess of lust may bring home to trouble.

Planets in signs and houses PLANETARY COMBINATIONS FOR ADMINISTRATIVE AND HIGH JUDICIAL OFFICERS

PLANETARY COMBINATIONS FOR ADMINISTRATIVE AND HIGH JUDICIAL OFFICERS

Often there is a question as to how people having different horoscope enter the same profession. The simple answer to this could be that their horoscopes must bear some similar factors.

To locate such factors, an investigation into the nativities of those coming under the same profession would be necessary on the following lines :

1.  The nature and related characteristics of a particular profession should first be ascertianed and analysed.

2.  Likewise, the indications of the Zodiacal houses should also be balanced in the features of the profession (e.g., 6th house in a horoscope is the house of government service as explained hereinafter.)

Thus the planets and the Zodiacal houses, so established for a particular profession, would go to make the common or similar factors for each profession.

An attempt is made here in respect of administrative officers in public administration. Public administration has been defined as the "Art and science of Management as applied to the affairs of the state" and also as "that part of science of asministration, which has to do with the goverment and thus, concern itself primarily, with the executive branch, where the work of the govermnment is done."

The functions of the administrative officer (I.A.S.) are rather undefined and unlimited. However, in various capacities , they are of different natures. In one capacity, one of his important function is to tender advice to the political executives with his inherent talent, knowledge of technicalities of administration and his reservoir of information and thus, help in formulation of policies and enactment of laws. His task in this respect goes even further. In order to execute the laws and the public policy, he sets-up the work of programme-planning; and thus, arranges to maintain co-ordination.

It will not be out of season to mention that instead of considering the planets in their individual capacity, an astrologer may normally, focus on looking for Raja Yogas. One, two or more such Yogas in the horoscope may lead one to mistake them as qualified for the I.A.S. job.

The view is not dependable for the following reasons :

1.   Firstly, a Raja Yoga is different from Rajya Yoga, and the former is not be confused for the latter.

2.  The Raja Yoga in a horoscope indicates health, happiness and comforts and luxuries of life as per their constituents, and also certainly indicates political power but it would require a good deal of study and investigation before one could definitely in what manner a Raja Yoga is likely to manifest.

3.  The Raja Yoga in different horoscopes are generally, of different type and strength (vide horoscope under review for ready reference), except one or the other of them being common, but that too, not in all cases.

4.  The Raja  Yogas are not always dependable, rather are ineffective, if the component planets suffer from any inability due to maleficence, and thus, are rendered powerless to give results of the Yoga.

5.  Moreover, it is also to be noted that the Raja Yogas, no doubt, have a generial impact on the horoscope, but they fructify mainly when the Dasa-Bhukti of the palnets forming the Yoga come to operate in the life-time of the individual concerned, which may not necessarily coincide with the time of entrance into the profession.

6.  Over and above all, it is also very pertinent to see whether there is any malefic or evil Yoga in the horoscope, in addition to the benefics ones, which if it exists, will mar the results of even the benefics Yogas, just as a drop of poison in a jar of milk spoils all the milk.

As such the Raja Yogas do not, in themselves, justify the making of an administrative officer and cannot be accepted as common factors.

We have to search for planetary influences, in the individual capacity of planets and the Zodiacal indications by assessment of :

1.  The status of the planets amongst themselves;
2.  Inherent features, nature, qualities and tendencies of planets;
3.  Residential strength of the planets in the relation and association with other planets;
4.  Functional value of the planets with reference to a particular Lagna; and
5.  The nature and tendencies of the Zodiacal signs or houses.

Status of Planets

According to Jataka Parijata (II - 2) ----

meaning, that the Sun and the Moon are sovereigns; Jupiter and Venus are counsellors; Mercury is the heir-apparent (young prince); Mars is the commander-in-chief; and Saturn is the servant. In saying that the Sun and the Moon are sovereigns, it must be understood that the Sun is the king, the Moon being the Queen. Similarly, Jupiter is the minister (External Affairs) and Venus is his wife (Minister for Internal Affairs or the matters inside the house).

Further, the Sun rules the six signs from Leo taken in the negative side while the Moon is the lord of the other six signs, from Cancer counted in the opposite side. It is by these two luminaries that the supremacy over the other 10 signs has been given to Mars and the other planets. That is to say, the 2nd place from the Sun in Leo, his throne-seat, (negatively) has been alloted to Mercury, the heir-apparent. The 3rd place has been given to Venus who is the Minister of Internal Affairs. The 4th house has been given over to Mars who is the commander-in-chief. The 5th house is the house of knowledge and External Affairs, and has been alloted to Jupiter. To the servant Saturn, has been alloted the 6th house.

A similar order would follow in the case of the Moon with reference to the signs under her sway counted from Cancer (her throne - seat).

As explained above, the 6th place from the sovereign's throne, (the Sun in Leo) has been alloted to saturn. In other words, the 6th house is the house of government service and Saturn is the government servant.

The 6th house becomes all the more significant as it stands identical with the 9th (Bhagyastana) from the 10th (Karmastana); and also the 10th (Karmastana) from the 9th (the Bhagyastana); again, it is the 5th from the 2nd house and the 2nd from the 5th house. Further, no less important  is the position of the 11th house, the house of gains and income, as it stands 6th from the 6th house. Hence, in this context, the 11th  house also plays an important role.

Further in consideration of the status of the planets amongst themselves, Jupiter (minister for sovereign), Mars (commander-in-chief i.e., possessing executive powers) and Saturn (servant of the sovereign), represent fitness for the administrative job. Accordingly, for the purpose of investigation, we proceed ahead to evaluate these three planets with reference to their natural, residential, functional and other properties.

Saturn

Amongst other indications, Saturn signifies servile duty, whole sovereignty (Uttarakalamrita   V -- 47-50); further, Saturn controls longevity, livehood, cause of death, prosperity and adversity. Besides, he represents general masses, public responsibilities, mass contact and political diplomacy.

Ordinarily, as a general dictum of astrology, any planets in his own, exaltation, friendly house or Moolatrikona Rasi or Varga and Amsa, will promote the happiness of the person concerned. (Uttarakalamrita, IV -- 13). Besides, Saturn is predominant in his own Drekana, especially, when in Upachayas (3,6,10,11) and also in all the signs when retrograde (Jataka Parijata II -- 67).  Again, in case Saturn acquires beneficience by temporal position, its aspects  are productive of good.

Saturn in the 1st house (Ascendant) identical with Libra, Sagittarius and Pisces signs, according to Garga is capable of conferring royalty (i.e., power, authority and prosperity) on the native.

Saturn in the 1st is capable of conferring authority and power.

It is apparently so because Saturn in the Ascendant aspects the 7th (house of diplomacy) and the 10th (the house of livelihood, respect and dignity). And, he also aspects the 8th, the house of vocation. He sends exceedingly powerful rays in his 3rd and 10th aspect , his quarter glance (J.P. II - 31). Again, in the case of Pisces Ascendant, he is the lord of the 11th (Capricorn), in which sign he indicates honours, authority, position and financial gains.

An almost parallel view is also expressed in Jataka Parijata (VII - 57)

It means that when Saturn is in the rising sign identical with Sagittarius, Pisces, Libra, Aries, Capricorn or Aquarius, the native will be lord of men, handsome and intelligent, and will lead a town or village.

When in the 4th (Simhasana or house of authority), he aspects the 6th, the 10th and the Ascendant. One becomes a great diplomat or high-positioned government servant and wields immerse power and gets success in foreign countries.

When in the 7th, where Saturn gets Digbala, he becomes very powerful and promises  a prominent high position in public life. In the 10th, normally, he gives reversals in life and causes sudden downfall if afflicted; but when exalted and aspected by a benefic 10th lord, he extends splendour, honour, grandeur and reputation. He is the Karaka for the 6th house (J. P. II - 51).

Assuming lordship of the 9th and the 10th  from Lagna, in the case of Taurus Ascendant, he becomes highly auspicious. Saturn, when he bestows blessings, has no limits and can take one very high in all areas of life.

meaning, that Saturn always gives all desirable things when in the 8th.

Mars

As regards Mars, he is called 'Vakra' (crooked) also, meaning diplomat. He also represents kingship, royal aspect, authority and power to punish, magistrate, criminal cases, energy, courage, tact, action, executive capacity, service under a king, commander, land, lord of men and mounting a vehicle. He also indicates treasure and litigation.

What an administrative officer needs in the performance of his duties is, mainly the executive capacity, tact and diplomacy, timely and effective action and determination to assert authority , to take wrong-doers to task for maintenance of law and order and to secure the welfare of the people by exercising magisterial powers vested in him. These are the qualities of Mars. He is, thus, the strong indicator for executive service under the government. Like Saturn, the magnitude of his strength will have its say in raising the position of the native high.

As regards the strength of Mars, he is also the Karaka for the 6th house, (the house of service under the government). He has abundant strength in his Drekanna, in the 12th, the 8th, the 11th, the 10th and the 1st signs, in retrogression, in his navamsa and gives prosperity when he is in the 10th from Lagna and also  when he is in Cancer (J. P. II - 63). Besides, like others planets, he is strong in his exaltation, own house, in a friendly house and Moolatrikona Rasi and bestows immense benefits and makes one a leader. He is mighty strong in Virgo, Gemini and Sagittarius when without the Sun. He gets strong even in his enemy's camp. (Uttarakalamrita V - 15).

He gets auspicious in the 8th in the matter of service,as in the case of Mr. Morarji Desai who started his career as an administrative officer with exalted Mars in his 8th. The 8th house is the house of vocation as well; and Mars is the Lord of 8th of the Zodiac (Kalapursha). Hence, Mars in the 8th as lord of the 8th is very significant in service matters; from the 8th, he aspects the 11th also.

Mars enjoys Digbala in the 10th and gives prosperity. He gets exalted in the 10th sign of the Zodiac. Mars in the 10th makes one the beacon light of the family.

Mars in the 10th house gives  executive ability, capacity for leadership and prosperity. He becomes specially strong as lord of the 9th in the 10th and makes one a judge or magistrate.

In association with Saturn, he gives brilliant results. According to Kalamrita (IV - 8),

Meaning, if Mars and Saturn be strongly placed i.e., exalted, in own or friendly house with benefic aspect, and occupy the 2nd and the 10th houses from the Lagna, the native will be highly praised in public and will be a great personage.
According to Jataka Parijata (VII - 9) :

When full moon in the 9th occupies exaltation, own or friendly house; and Mars and Saturn occupy the 2nd and the 10th, a ruler of the earth is born.               Further, Jataka Parijata (VII - 44) says :

If Saturn and Mars be in the 10th, 5th or 1st house and full Moon be in a sign owned by Jupiter, the person born will be a king.

Jupiter

Jupiter holds supremacy over all other planets as the preceptor of the gods. He represents the throne, treasure, royal honour, intellect, brilliancy, moving in village, travelling in a vehicle bordered on four sides (Uttarakalamrita, V- 38-41); legal affairs, diplomacy, power of discussion, respect and reputation, guardianship, wisdom, minister also knowledge and dignity. Jupiter is the giver of health, wealth and progeny. His aspect and association are said to be extremely beneficial.

All of these qualities of Jupiter have close identity with the status and duties of an administrative officer. He holds high supreme position in the government. He stands strong like other planets in his own, exaltation, friendly house and Moolatrikona Rasi.

He assumes power in Pisces, Sagittarius, Cancer, Aquarius and also in his debilitation sign. He is auspicious in the rising sign, in the 4th as well as th 10th from Lagna and gives much wealth.

He gets Digbala in Lagna; and thus gets strong, aspecting the 5th, 7th and the 9th with full aspect. He is auspicious in his oblique aspect (Jataka Parijata II - 31).

Jupiter's aspect over any planet as a natural benefic is of weighty importance apart from the fact that he may be temporarily ill-placed. The opposition aspect with the Moon is extremely good.

Jupiter in conjuction with Mars makes the native loving, revered, wealthy and acquainted with the science of computation (Jataka Parijata VIII - 4). If the combination happens to be in the 10th house, it makes one a judge or magistrate.

In relationship with Saturn, both being philosophical planets, Jupiter tends to give philosophical views or an ability for impartial assessment of things. Thus, Jupiter in strength and especially, having to do anything with the 6th or the 11th, promises strong indications for an administrative job under the government.

Conclusion

Now, in order to find the common astrological factors, the status and duties etc., of the I.A.S. officers (first stage of the investigation) on one side area, in the first instance, to be balanced with the planetary influence and Zodiacal indications (the second stage) on the other. The close study of the details on both sides in the foregoing paragraphs, shows the two sides are found quite balancing. That is to say, that the duties of the I.A.S. officers are duly contained in and corresponding to the status, nature and the tendencies of the three planets, Jupiter, Mars and Saturn. It is further to be seen how far the influence of these planets is contained in their horoscopes. The details of analysis therefore are shown in Appendix A. These details go to show that these planets are duly placed in the horoscopes, in auspicious and benefic and strong positions and are also simultaneously associated with and related to the 6th or the 11th or both houses.

Needless to say, the stronger and more beneficially the planets (Jupiter, Mars and Saturn) are placed in a horoscope, the higher would be the position of the native concerned, even going to the level of I.A.S. officers or equivalent, depending upon the degree of beneficence and strength of the planets.

Tenure of Service

As regards the second phase or the tenure of service, it is the stage when these officers work in different assignments. Here, the difference in the careers of the IAS officers begins when they are appointed as such and have come to the actual field of service. They are then alloted different assignments that carry work and amenities of different natures. Some of these carry facilities like conveyance, glamour of supreme authority and power with all paraphernalia and insignia of royalty; whereas in other cases, such as secretariat assignments or, the like, they carry compartively few amenities and little splendour.

IPS Officers

Now as regards the IPS officers, they are also likewise administrative officers in the public administration, governed by the same system of recruitment as IAS officers. They are similarly responsible for law and order and well being of the people in general. So naturally, the same planetary combination of Jupiter, Mars and Saturn associated or related with the 6th and/or the 11th house of the Zodiac, as in the case of IAS officers, would apply to them. The only distinguishing point between the two classes of officers is that Jupiter in the case of IPS officers will be a bit weaker compared to IAS officers.

High Judicial Officers

As regards judicials officers, they too are recruited to the job through competitive examinations like administrative officers. They are also officers under the government, with status and authority, and they are empowered to punish the evil-doers. By exercise of law in the public interest, by way of their jufgements (of law), they create a sense of law in the public to make then law-abiding and also on the other hand, providing a sense of security under law to the public in general.

The distinguishing point in this case in that their place and system of work in the performance of their duties differ from those of the administrative officers. They have not to work practically in the field but they exercise law in their office or court rooms by pronouncing the judgement of law. In fact, they put the law of the country into action. It is very well said that law is a silent judge, whereas a judge is a speaking law.

This specific aspect require further probe into the nature etc., of the planets to locate the particular planetary influence concurring with it.

In this context, excluding Saturn, Mars and Jupiter, we should look at Venus out of the remaining four planets, namely, Venus, Mercury, the Sun and the Moon. Venus is the minister (counsellor for internal affairs i.e., matters inside house), rules the kingdom or government authority, literacy composition, government seal (Uttarakalamrita,  IV - 42 1/2 - 45) and furnished rooms. On the other hand, the judicial officers administer justice having authority vested in them by the government, through judgement of law (i.e., legal literacy compositions) in their well furnished judgement halls. Thus, very obviously the distinguishing features of their working system and place fall in with the qualities and tendencies of Venus.

Venus is auspicious in his exaltation sign, in his varga in the 3rd, the 4th, the 6th and the 12th houses from the Lagna, in conjuction with the Moon; in retrograde motion and when he is in advance of the Sun (Vide, Jataka Parijata II - 66). Venus in the 12th will prove auspicious except when he is in the Rasi or Navamsa owned by Saturn. Venus as well as Jupiter become fully favorable, when in the house of a benefic and in conjuction with the lord of the same.

Venus will do good when in the 6th house (Uttara Kalamrita IV - 9) and does not lose strength even when eclipsed. He has Digbala in the 4th. When Venus in strong occupying the 11th or the 12th, a king's peer takes birth (J.P. VII - 10).

When Venus occupies the Lagna in Aswini Nakshatra and is aspected by all other planets, the person will be senior in the family destined to destroy the whole host of enemies (J.P. VII - 6).

In the Appendix A, B and C have been detailed the positions of the planets (Jupiter, Mars Saturn in case administrative officers, IAS and IPS and also Venus in the case of judicial officers) forming the common factors for a common career.

Planets in signs and houses Navratri - Balika Puja (नवरात्र आणि कुमारिका पूजनाचे महत्व )

Durga Puja 2012 date is 16 October. Durga Puja during Navratri is associated with the incarnation of goddess Durga and worshipping of Kanya (little girls). It is a religious and social aspect of Navratra. Worship of the girls has been given great importance in our scriptures. No difference of caste has been taken into account in their worship and it has been advised by scriptures to worship and treat every girl in same manner. Devotees should worship all girls in Navratri considering them to be Goddess herself, because all the girls are personification of wisdom and knowledge of entire universe.
Our scriptures say that the place where all girls are worshipped is considered to be the most sanctified. In the second half of one of Hindu scriptures “Rudryamla Tantra”, the girls have been categorized into different age groups for worship and described as different forms of Goddesses. For example, a one year old girl is called “Sandhya”, two years old is called “Saraswati” and three years old is called “Tridhamurthy”. Similarly, four years old girl is called “Kalika” and five is “Subhga”. At the age of six, she becomes “Uma”. When reached seven, she is called “Malini” and “Kubja” in her eighth years. She is “Kaalsandharbha” in nine, “Aparajita” in ten and “Rudrani” in eleven years of age. A girl in twelfth year is “Bharavi” and “Mahalaxmi” in thirteenth. In her fourteen, fifteen and sixteenth year, she is known as “Peethnayika”, “Chetraja” and “Ambika” respectively.

Durga Puja 2011 : How to Worship Girls

Offering prayers during this Sharad Navratri makes goddess Durga happy. But as per descriptions of mythology, merely fasting, chanting shloka and mantra, performing sacrifices etc cannot make her happy. So, there is a special significance of worshipping the little girls. According to Hindu mythology, offering special gifts to girls is considered auspicious during these nine days.
On the first day, it is propitious to give them flowers. Moreover, one make-up item is a must to be given along with flowers. Offer white flower to Ma Saraswati in order to please her. If you have any worldly desire in your heart, offer red flowers (e.g. rose, china-rose or gurhal, jasmine, and marigold etc.)
On the second day, worship by giving them fruits. This fruit can be red or yellow for materialistic desire and banana or coconut for achieving detachment. Remember fruits must not be sour.

On the third day there is a significant of Sweets. Goddess becomes happy, if home cooked kheer , halwa or yellow rice are fed on the day.
On day four there is a value of giving them cloths but in accordance with financial capacity handkerchief and ribbon can also be offered.
Fifth day good fortune and to bless with child is desired from goddess. So giving five type of make up item to girls is considered very auspicious. There can be bindi, bangles, heena, hair clips, scented soaps, kajal, mascara, nail paint, talcum powder etc in them.
On sixth day Sport stuff should be given to girls. Nowadays different varieties of sport stuff are available in markets. Earlier this custom was limited up to rope, panche and small toys only but now many options are available in markets.
Seventh day is dedicated to call Goddess Saraswati. On this day study material should be given to girls. Different types of pencil, pen, copies, drawing, books, compass, water bottle and lunch box are available in market these days.
Eight day of navratri is considered as the most scared day. Goddess gives special blessing to the people who do girls make up with their own hands. Girls’ feet should be washed by milk. Akshat, flowers and kumkum should offer on their feet. Food should be given to girls and offer some gifts to them as per financial capacity. Giving alms is necessary every day during Navratra.
On the ninth day mean sthe last day of Navratra, Girls should be feed with kheer, gwarfali’s vegetable and puri kneaded with milk. The worship of Goddess is completed by their feet Mahavar & heena on their palms. If the Hawan is organized at your home then Samidha must be offered by her hands. She should be feed with cardamom & betel. There is a belief behind this custom that when the Goddess goes back to her land then she must be seen off as a girl from her own house. If possible, a red tippet should be given to girls also offer them a small book of Durga Chalisa. Garba`s dandiya & Chaniya choli can also be given.

Goddess bless with happiness, prosperity if the worship is done according to all these rituals.

If someone puts his problems in front of goddess with pure heart and recites Durga Saptshati with devotion, all his/her troubles vanish for sure. The way we worship Ma Durga, we should similarly worship our mother too, only then it will be called a true worship.

Planets in signs and houses VASTU AND DOMESTIC HAPPINESS

VASTU AND DOMESTIC HAPPINESS

What has vastu to do with domestic happiness ?

How Vastu, which is the science of dwellings, links itself to the happiness in the family.

The Vedas, the wisdom books and knowledge banks of India, has given us the great Panchataras (Jyotisha, Yoga, Ayurveda and Vastu) of our culture. All these science are inter-related and inter-dependent.

Each sector of a quadrangle (Mandala) is identified with the primary elements of Nature. When these identifications are studied carefully, those can be applied to bring in happiness into the family.

Every body says "Home, sweet home." How can a home be sweet if there are disturbances and agitations in the family? Such disturbances can broadly relate to :

A)  Peace of mind,
B)  Behaviour,
C)   Education,
D)  Routine or day to day family ,
       conflicts or confrontations
E)  Health
F)  Profession, or
G)   Finances

Peace of Mind

If you want to prevent or minimize the problems arising out of the infantile actions or inaction of other members of the family or if you want to give yourselves enough strength to face the onslaught from family members? For this, get enough strength first and then think trying to solve the problems of your family member. The right and legitimate Vastu place for you in the house is the South-West or if that is not available then South of the house. In this area you need to spend at least eight hours a day.

In ancient times, our kings would sit on the throne, which had a certain placement. When they sat there, the assembly, which consisted of ministers and people, would be able to discuss properly matters of importance and the kings were able to award fair judgements. We just need to adapt to this ancient practice in our day to day lives.

In the room selected for parents the bed need to go the south-west corners of the rooms without touching either the western wall or southern wall. We should always sleep with your head to the south. South polarity is induced in the head. This simple principle applies to everyone in the northern hemisphere. When the head is placed to the geographical or magnetic north, the blood circulation is stable and hence will ensure you better health. As a result, it will help you to examine family issues justly. Once you are able to review matters appropriately, you will be able to take the right decisions. This way, you will be able to understand the grievances of your family members and communication between you and your siblings are likely to improve. When it does, you have peace of mind. Parent's Room

Behaviour

Good behaviour of family members is one important aspect of family happiness. When each member of the family understands his/her responsibility towards the family, happiness stays intact, but when one rebels without worrying about one's own responsibility, peace in the family begins to drift away. Such rebelling could be in the form of disturbing behaviour. It could be in the form of verbal aggression on other family members for no rhyme or reason, and can sometimes be even in the form of physical violence.

If you have to choose the north-west and south-east rooms between your daughter and son, It is better to give the northwest room to your daughter and the south-east room to your son.

Agneya (South-East) is ruled by agni or fire which relates to assertiveness and aggressive attitude. Venus rules this sector astrologically and relates to contentment, wife (or husband) and fortune. Venus also is the Karaka for marriage. This sector therefore relates to peace of mind (or otherwise) of a couple and consequently, to family happiness. As Agni is predominant in this sector, it would be wise for newly married couple to keep away from this room.
Timid children can make use of this room and hope to come out of their fear and get confident. People who are by nature aggressive (and warlike) can avoid a south-east room.
Vayuvya (North-West) is ruled by Vayu or air, which relates to movement or transit Astrologically, this sector is ruled by the Moon and consequently, relates to the mind. The Moon also is the Karaka for mother.
Children's Room
Daughter and New Couple Taking this as the basis of our understanding, we can safely conclude this sector also relates to peace of mind of one's mother and naturally, to peace of mind of the family. This sector is not suitable for already disturbed minds. If we have to use the north-west rooms invariably, we need to strengthen the interiors so that the disturbance is minimized, if not removed. This sector may not be appropriate for youngsters in their formative years, especially boys.
Newly-wed couples can use this room.

Education

Education (or lack of it) is another important aspect in life which invariably adds (or lessens) to the happiness in a family. We see children doing extremely well and parents are delighted about it. We also see children not faring well inspite of their own hard study and the constant coaxing of the parents to study. How can we make then study better?
Reading Room
Study Room Students who have difficulty in studies can study in South-East rooms sitting in the North-East corners of the rooms facing East.

Intelligent students can select a North-East room and study their lessons facing East sitting in the central East of the room. Students are advised to sleep with their heads to the East. They can have their beds in the South-west corners of their rooms.
Experiments in medical electricity have brought to light that if a current of electricity is passed from one part of the body to another, It subdues all inflammation in that part of the body where it enters. Now, in lying down with the head placed eastward, the current of thermal electricity which is constantly passing over the surface of the earth from east to west, passes also through the body from the head to the feet and subdues inflammation. Therefore, There is a clear and healthy head, which in turn makes the student study and understand his lessons properly. It is precisely for this reason that sage Markandeya said that a man becomes learned by lying down with his head placed Eastward and is troubled with distressing thoughts by lyingdown with his head placed westward. Electric Compound
Routine Conflicts
Water Reservour We also find that normal day to day conflicts among the family members also affect peace of mind of the parents and elders of the family. These disturbances can sometimes be traced to the South - West. Check if there is a water source (water stump or well) in the South-west of the house and if so, close it by filling it up with cement or earth. If you find that the South-West of the house is chopped off, this could also be the reason for the hostility among the family members leading to depression in the elder's rational thinking.
Care should be also be taken to see that no door is either on the south or West of the South-west of the building. A door on the South west of a building (or room ) is likely to create family disturbances. Door Opening
Health
Bed Room Health is another important aspect of family happiness. General health can be improved by sleeping with the head placed South. Disturbed minds can make use of central east rooms with their beds to the south - west corners of the room and not touching the walls.
Profession

Contentment and happiness in your profession is another contributory factor to family happiness. Apart from looking into the placements of your room in your office and arrangement of furniture in that room, it is necessary that you get used to facing East. The East sector ruled by the Sun is synonymous with health - physical and mental. You will be able to think properly and take fair decisions on anything related to your profession.

Finances

Financial stringency is another factor that contributes to family unhappiness. We find people complaining that the inflow of revenue does not match their hard and sincere effort. We can trace improper flow of money to several factors. The ancient works have invariably recommended a North of North-east water source. We find that temples, which are financially prosperous, have their Pushkarnis in the North of North-east. If you are planning to go for a well or a water pump, you can try to locate it in the North of North-east of your site.
Water Pump

It is also said that the North is ruled by Kubera. You can place your assets like jewellery, cash, bank cheque books, property papers and other important documents in a central north room of the house with the almirahs kept in the south - west corners of the room and opening towards the North. This way the revenue of the family can stabilize.

Vastu shastra is handed over to us to regulate our lives. These suggested Vastu recommendations can help to lessens problems faced in a family and improve things. We, of course, need to understand that we are always working within a framework set by our horoscopes. Within this we can try to archieve the best that is due to us. Once we know that we are working within the limits set by the Almighty, We will be able to reasonably achieve family happiness by making use of Vastu rules laid down by the Vedas.
